SKYLINE SUNRISE From our readers Town is fighting proposed pit plan How would you like to have an addi- tional 21,213 gravel trucks a year come through The Town of Halton Hills for the next 20 years with zero benefit to the Town? Acton will take the brunt of this grav- el truck procession. James Dick is hop- ing for a rezoning to operate a quarry on 39.4 hectare site just outside of the Halton Hills boundary. This is called the 'Hid- den Quarry.' The Guelph Eramosa council will be considering a rezoning from Agriculture/Hazard to Industrial/Excavate. The Concerned Residents Coalition has been active in fighting this proposal. They have already signed up 750 members. If you want more in- formation or want to be a member, contact the CRC at CRCRockwood.org. Halton Hills, Halton Re- gion and Milton have serious concerns with this proposal. Your council will be treating this Quarry proposal as if it was in our Town. **** The Town has revamped the active development page on its website to pro- vide more detailed and valuable infor- mation to the community. The webpage tracks and provides an up-to date status for all active development applications within the Town of Halton Hills. This is a real value add to our community and will provide a comprehensive list of all of the different development applications on which the Town is currently partner- ing. Please visit: http://haltonhills.ca/Development/ ActiveDevelopments.php **** Happy retirement to my wife Josey. After 15 years as the Acton Business Im- provement Manager (BIA), Josey will be retiring March 31. I know I am preju- diced, but you did a great job! I would like to wish the new BIA man- ager, Beth Paisley all the success in her new position. **** Congratulations to Fred Helson on being selected as the Georgetown Citi- zen of the Year. Fred, this is well deserved as you con- tinue to give back to your community. **** Wastewise, located at 12 Armstrong Ave. in Georgetown, has been serving our community since 1991.
