Thank You Students from St. Joseph Elementary School in Acton jumped aboard the Tour of Humanity bus recently to learn about the consequences of hate and intolerance, as well as the impor- tance of human rights in our society. The Tour for Humanity is a 30-seat state- of-the-art mobile education centre that has visited more than 100 schools across the prov- ince since it was wheeled out for the first time by the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Centre for Holocaust Studies in November 2013. FSWC spokesperson Daniella Lurion said that the presentations are tailored for three different age groupings for a school like St. Jo- seph. A group of Grade 8 students from St. Joe's visited the Simon Wiesenthal Centre in Toron- to last year and principal Sonia Bien requested that the Tour for Humanity come to Acton, which it did for two days in late March. Simon Wiesenthal Centre for Holocaust Studies educator Daniella Lurion speaks to a class of Grade 7 students from St. Joseph Elementary School recently in a theatre within a bus called Tour of Humanity. Discussion centred around topics such as bullying, stereotypes and hate crimes. Photo by Eamonn Maher Acton students take a Tour of Humanity
