NEWS More than 10,000 lbs collected in Acton's Spring Food Drive Thanks to a generous community, the annual Scout/Guide/Bethel Youth Food Drive has collected just over 10,000 lbs. of food and received over $900 in cash dona- tions with more donations continuing to come in to the Acton Foodshare food bank. "These donations will stock the shelves with a wide variety of items," said Ac- ton Foodshare chair, Arlene Humphreys. "Thank you to everyone involved and The Independent & Free Press for its contin- ued support." This annual food drive has been going on since the Foodshare food bank opened in 1990. The youth groups have been ac- tive from the beginning and look forward to picking up the community donations. Donations of food were picked up in Acton and Limehouse on the Saturday morning starting about 9 a.m. Cash dona- tions were also accepted. If people's donations were missed, please call the food bank at 519-853-0457 or drop by the food bank, 352 Queen St., Unit 6, on Tuesdays between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. An up-to-date list of most needed items can be found on the food bank website, www.actonfoodshare.com It would be appreciated if donors would check the best before dates on food items before donating.
