For the eighth consecutive year the Town of Halton Hills experienced an overall reduction in the amount of energy used during Earth Hour on Saturday, March 28. In 2015, with the support of local business- es, schools, residents and other organizations, energy consumption decreased to equivalent of powering about 418 homes for one hour. Since first participating in Earth Hour in 2008, the community has saved enough elec- tricity to power about 23,375 average homes for one hour. "Our commitment to energy conservation will benefit our community and beyond espe- cially now that we are nearing the completion of our Community Energy Plan. This Plan will make us leaders in energy efficiency and reduc- tion of greenhouse gas emissions-- generating many benefits for our community," said Mayor Rick Bonnette. "I'm proud that our community continues to participate in this global event by raising awareness about climate change and taking practical actions to reduce energy."
