Police were called to two separate Georgetown homes after receiving reports of entries that had occurred overnight while the residents were home. The first incident occurred on Morden Neilson Way. The suspect(s) appeared to have entered the home through an unlocked door and proceeded to remove small items from the main floor of the home, including jewelry and small electronics. The second incident occurred at a home on Stockman Crescent. The suspect(s) entered the home by forcing the lock to a rear door and re- moved similar items from the main floor. Investigators are seeking witnesses who may have observed any suspicious vehicles or persons in these areas during the overnight hours. Residents are also reminded to remain vigilant by ensuring their home is secure and that they re- port suspicious activity, such as unusual persons or vehicles to police. Grass fires keep Halton Hills firefighters busy Halton Hills firefighters were busy with several grass fires over the past week. On Monday (April 13) about 3 p.m. they re- sponded to a three-acre grass fire on Third Line, south of 32 Sideroad. Fire crews extinguished the fire that had also spread to a cedar fence. An un- attended burn pile was the cause of the fire. The homeowner didn't have a permit and was told not to burn again until a permit was acquired. Crews were called out again Monday about 3:40 p.m. for a grass fire on Winston Churchill Blvd., south of 10 Sideroad. The small grass fire had also ignited brush along a fence line. Crews quickly extinguished the flames and spoke to the home- owner, who did have a valid permit. Firefighters responded to the report of a grass fire on 30 Sideroad in Milton about 2 p.m. Thurs- day (April 16). On arrival they quickly extinguished a small brush fire burning in a fenced area. The homeowner was burning some brush in a pit. Crews responded to a few grass fires Saturday (April 18). About 10:20 p.m. they responded to one on Steeles Ave., east of Tenth Line. On scene, crews met with the property owner and son in-law who were extinguishing hot spots along the fence line of the property. Firefighters extinguished any re- maining hot spots. Just before noon that day, firefighters respond- ed to the report of a grass fire on Fifth Line, north of 32 Sideroad in Erin. On scene, crews found a fire, originating from the homeowner burning garbage. The wind had blown sparks into the dry grass. Fire staff extinguished fire. About 1:40 p.m. firefighters responded to the report of a grass fire on Sixth Line, south of 27 Sid- eroad. On scene, crews met with the homeowners who advised they were burning approximately three days earlier and the winds had stirred up the embers, starting a large pile of wood ablaze along with grass and a fence line. Fire staff extinguished the fires and cleared the scene. Firefighters responded to the report of a small grass fire in the area of Steeles Ave. and Trafalgar Rd. about 3:30 p.m. There was a small fire smol- dering on one of the medians, which was quickly extinguished.
