John Martin, Deputy Chief Operations at Halton Hills Fire Department, said the call came in about 4:20 p.m. The fire, which did not spread to the home, destroyed a vehicle in the garage and damaged another one that was parked in the driveway. No one was injured. Martin said there was some heat damage to the front porch on the home. There is no damage estimate available yet. Martin said the fire was caused accidentally when the homeowner was welding his car. The resident had used a fire extinguisher to try to extinguish the blaze but was unsuccessful.
