NEWS Halton Police will be targeting high risk driv- ing behaviors during Canada Road Safety Week that kicked off Tuesday. The national campaign, which runs through Monday (May 18) is aimed at making Canada's roads the safest in the world. It is a collaborative effort by Canadian Police Services with the focus of the campaign on behaviors that put drivers, passengers and other road users most at risk-- such as the "Big 4 Killers" impaired driving (by alcohol or drug), failure or improper use of seat belt, distracted driving and aggressive driving. As part of the campaign and new this year there will be a National Enforcement Day for impaired driving on Saturday (May 16). In Halton Region over the past four years, the Halton Regional Police Collision Recon- struction Unit has investigated some 50 colli- sions involving fatalities and over 100 serious injury collisions. Canada Road Safety Week is sponsored by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) and Transport Canada and is part of Canada's Road Safety Strategy 2015, which has a goal of making Canada's roads the safest in the world by 2015.
