WHITE SALE ON NOW! (ends Nov 30th) COMMUNITY The Georgetown/Acton community will join to- gether again this year, walking in solidarity to raise funds to support ALS families in the Georgetown/ Acton WALK for ALS.   ALS, which stands for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a neurodegenerative terminal dis- ease.  Currently there are 2,500-3,000 Canadians living with ALS. Every year 1,000 people will die because of this disease and 1,000 will be newly di- agnosed. With a lifespan of only two to five years, there is an urgency to accelerate finding a treat- ment for ALS and help families manage the emo- tional and physical transitions this disease inflicts on people living with ALS. The money raised goes towards research and to provide support services and equipment to help Canadians living with ALS maintain a quality of life as long as possible. The Georgetown/Acton WALK for ALS will be held on Saturday, June 6 at Christ the King High School and Dominion Gardens Park, 161 Guelph St. The WALK begins at 10:45 a.m. with a $200,000 goal.  About one-third has been raised to date.  The public can register for the WALK or donate to participants at www.walkforals.ca. WALK for ALS has $200,000 goal
