COMMUNITY Lawn Bowling Club welcomes all on May 23 & 24 The Georgetown Lawn Bowling Club throws open the doors for its big annual Open House, 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24. Club members are looking forward to greet- ing interested visitors, showing them around the facilities and even taking in a mini-game of bowls. There will be refreshments too. Those attending the Open House, who would like to try the game, should wear appropriate foot- wear (flat-soled shoes work best) and comfortable clothes that allow for movement. After a short overview, visitors will be able to get on the greens and play. Visitors will very quickly see that this game plays very differently from bocce or five-pin bowl- ing and is much more like curling or chess on grass with lots of strategy, skill and fun thrown into the mix. Over the season there is open bowling for members on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday eve- nings starting at 7 p.m. On Tuesday evening prior By Frank Anthony Georgetown Lawn Bowling Club Continued on page 27
