TOOLS FOR TRADES & PERSONAL USE SAFETY CLOTHING & EQUIPMENT INDUSTRIAL SUPPLIES IN BRIEF Kids can name police recruit Halton Police are getting help from Halton elementary school students to select a name for the Service's new canine recruit. Police are looking forward to the addition of a sixth canine team member. The new four-legged recruit is due to join the Service in late summer. The new Police Service Dog will join the other PSDs Tracker, Storm, Parker, Bishop and Nero. Halton Police's retired service dogs are Chase, Kingston, Sniper, Justice, Honour, Gage, Kruz, Baron, Titan, Juno and Valour. All elementary schools have been invited to take part in the Name the K (contest and they have until Friday (June 5) to nominate their chosen name. The children are encouraged to be origi- nal and imaginative and to come up with one name entry for each school. A single syllable is preferred, however, a maximum of two is accepted. A gender-neutral name is also suggested. The Halton Police Canine Team will choose the top three names provided by the participating schools and beginning June 10, the community will have two ways in which to vote for their favorite name. A hash tag campaign will be run on the @HaltonPolice and @HRPSK9 Twitter ac- counts and non-Twitter users can go to the wwwhaltonpolice.ca to vote. The name that gets the most hash tags and online votes will be the winning name. The PSD's name will be revealed Mon- day, June 22.
