The driving force behind all these wonderful cars showing up is the battle against cancer. This year the proceeds go towards the Childhood Can- cer Campaign. For 28 years, Classics against Cancer car show has become one of the best known events in Southern Ontario with new ideas being added yearly. Attendance records have exceeded 5,000 in some years. The 2014 show signalled a renais- sance with high attendance and very favorable comments. The show averages 400 cars and re- ceives 4,000 visitors annually. The committee has been able to raise nearly $500,000 since its first show. This year organizers of the event at Cedarvale Park are expecting more than 500 vehicles to be in the show. Classic boats, vendors and Ronald McDonald himself are also part of the day's fes- tivities. Pancake breakfast has become a tradition at the show and last year was a record turnout with about 600 meals and 2,500 cups of coffee served by McDonald's Restaurant. This year's event also offers a mixture fan fa- vorites and some new entertainment.Rolly Rock- er & the Hemi Heads with Lee Martin is returning to the stage, supplying classic 50s to 70s rock done in unique Hemi Heads style. Representing the Golden Era of the 1950s will be Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley Tribute acts. The Kids Korner returns to provide fun and activities. Among the special auto attractions this year is a new, Cruise-In style show format along with a Mustang Corral, a Corvette Corner and Prestige Car Area.
