North Halton roads will be the next ones seeing enhanced enforcement under Halton Re- gional Police's contribution to the national Project Safe Com- mute initiative. On Thursday, July 16, of- ficers will be focusing their attention on Trafalgar Road, Derry Road and both Main Street and Steeles Avenue in Milton and Halton Hills. These high volume com- muter areas will see officers targeting the Big 4 driving fac- tors-- distracted driving, alco- hol and drug impaired driving, failure to wear seat-belts and aggressive driving-- that place motorists at risk. A similar enforcement blitz was held on May 22 along Dundas Street in Burlington and Oakville. During the one-day educa- tion and enforcement project, a total of 197 Provincial Of- fence Notices were laid, with the majority consisting of speeding and distracted driv- ing offences. Officers also provided sev- eral warnings and cautions re- garding driving behaviour. MAN FACING CHARGES A Caledon man is facing an alcohol-related charge after being pulled over by the Hal- ton Regional Police in Norval early Friday morning. According to police, an of- ficer on patrol witnessed a ve- hicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lane on Guelph St. near Adamson St. at around 2:40 a.m. After speaking with the driver, the officer developed grounds to believe the suspect had consumed alcohol and a roadside screen test resulted in a fail. Charged with having 80 mgs. of alcohol in 100 ml. of blood is Inderpreet Kang, 21. NEWS North Halton roads target of police blitz today
