Active Living is a way of life where people choose to be physically active every day in their community. Active Living is based on the belief that regular physical activity has many life-long benefits. The goal of this initiative is to create a plan that supports, engages, and fosters an active and healthy community. Physical inactivity is a significant challenge to health and well-being globally. Physical activity has been engineered out of people's lives. Our goal is a big one… to re-integrate physical activity into our daily lives by creating a more activity-friendly community. We are looking for a variety of diverse perspectives, specialized skills and expertise to develop our own unique approach to making Active Choices the Easy Choices in the Town of Halton Hills. Committee membership will respect a balance of the geography of the community, respective stakeholders, skills and competencies, age cohorts and gender as well as varying backgrounds at a minimum. It is felt that diverse opinions will bring an innovative plan forward that considers the broadest of community interests. Active Living Strategy Steering Committee • Consists of (8 to 10) citizen members from various sectors including health, business, education, and recreation sectors. • Attend 7 to 9 meetings (approximately 2 hours long) from September 2015 to February 2016 • Identify strengths and issues that impact active living development in Halton Hills • Assist with the plan and development of an Active Living Strategy APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY • Must be a resident of the Town of Halton Hills.
