COMMUNITY 2015 Mayor's Choice Award goes to Barb Redford Photographer Barb Redford pre- sented a plaque-mounted version the Mayor's Choice award photo to Town of Halton Hills Mayor Rick Bonnette to be hung in his office. The Mayor's Choice Award cat- egory was selected by the Mayor himself from the nearly 400 entries that were submitted in the recent PhotoArt 2015 contest. This annual photography print contest, which has been run by the PhotoArt Committee of the Hal- ton Hills Camera Club for the past 35 years, is open to all Halton Hill residents. This year's winner is Acton resi- dent Redford, whose photograph of an abandoned farm house in Halton Hills conjured up youthful memories for Bonnette, who in his teens would spent summer days exploring his surrounding envi- ronment. The ghostly apparition that Redford captured is actually a photographic trick that she cre- ated, using flour. Although the Mayor had hun- dreds of entries to choose from, this photo in particular caught his eye, because of the artistic merit, exposure, and creativity, as well as the personal appeal. Dan Harmer, chair of PhotoArt, was on hand for the presentation. He encourages residents to start looking now for those unique photographs in preparation for next year's PhotoArt contest. -- Greg Coman Barb Redford and Rick Bonnette.
