COMMENT The way we were Ben, Pearl and Grace Foster at the old dynamo in Glen Williams 1910. The workman is unknown. After joining the Ontario Hydro grid, it was a warehouse until Apple Products moved in. It is now part of the Williams Mill Visual Arts Centre complex. Email cgamble@theifp.ca THE GLORY OF SUMMER From our readers Tracking immunizations keeps residents, schools healthy Halton Region is committed to the health and well-being of all our residents and im- m u n i z a t i o n is one way to protect our commu- nity from the threat of pre- ventable dis- eases. While the majority of families in Halton im- munize their children to protect their health, many are unaware of the need to notify the Hal- ton Region Health Depart- ment about any immuniza- tions their children have. The provincial Immuni- zation of School Pupils Act (ISPA) outlines which im- munizations students must have in order to keep our stu- dents and schools healthy by protecting our children from the vaccine preventable dis- eases that can easily spread in schools. The province requires that local health departments confirm the immunization records of students to ensure they have the legally required immunizations in order to at- tend school. This summer, please take a moment to ensure your family's immunizations are up-to-date, your children have all their legally re- quired immuni- zations to attend school and the Halton Region Health Depart- ment has your updated records on file. You can find out if the Halton Region Health Depart- ment has up- dated records by dialing 311. If your child is unable to get immunized, you must have a notarized exemption on file with the Health Department in order to meet school at- tendance requirements. To help make it easier for you to update your vaccina- tion history with the Health Department, we're also working on a new, online im- munization reporting system that should be ready this fall. Thank you for helping us keep Halton a safe and healthy place to live, work, raise a family and retire. - Gary Carr is the chair of Halton Region GARY CARR Program key to health strategy
