Call Us! COMMUNITY Our very first Show and Shine was a huge success. The day started off with a bit of rain and lots of clouds. It all changed and the cars started to roll in. A special thank you to Highway 11 Cruis- ers for helping Mike and I make this day a huge success. I would also like to thank Wares Auto Parts for all the prizes they donated, Royal LePage for the bags to give the drivers and Highway 11 Cruisers for the key tags and wax. Without the support of these businesses we could not have had such a great day. We thank our committee for their hard work. You helped the day run smoothly. Spe- cial thanks to Pat Graham, John Knight, Dar- lene and Kati for the set up and take down, Steve and Kathy Miles for barbecuing, Al- lan and Kathy Hall for registering cars, Dave Weaver, Dave Clarke and George McPhail for parking cars, Gloria Barker and Michelle Hill- ier for 50/50 draw, Julie Carney for picking up supplies and the kitchen crew Cathy Munday, Bev Mattocks, Gail Jarrett for cooking and Peg Graham for collecting dinner tickets. Peg Graham, president of the Legion would like to thank Sharon and Mike for all of their efforts and hard work in preparing for this event as it required a lot of time, effort and driving to various locations to encourage people to bring their cars. Lee Lakin of Hal- tonradio.com was kind enough to broadcast live from the event and be our emcee. We had 64 fantastic cars and four motor- cycles. Winners were first place Paul Cargill's 1955 Chevy, second place Fred Reinder's 1986 Buick and third place, Dave Seal's 1934 Ford. Best Car Club is 1935 Ford pickup truck with driver Dave Weston. Best in the show was a 1947 Maroon with driver Dave Carson. We hope to see you all back next year. A reminder that the Gary Munday Me- morial Fishing Derby is on Aug. 16, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome to bring your family out for some fun and a chance to win a prize for catching a fish. Parents come out and help your child fish. We have prizes and a hula hoop contest which is always fun for the kids and a barbecue for everyone. Hope to see you there. Let's make this the best one ever. Thanks to Dave Maloney, Dave McLean, Frank Single, Cathy Munday and Bev Bad- deley for manning the legion booth at the Leathertown Festival on Sunday.
