A FIESTA AT ANDREWS: This past weekend the Mariachi Mexico Amigo Band performed at the Mexi- can Fiesta held at Andrews Scenic Acres, the pick-your-own farm market on 10 Sideroad. The event was to show the behind-the-scenes Mexican farm workers that Ontarians appreciate their contribu- tion to fruit and vegetable production in Ontario. Without the Mexican and Jamaican workers who leave their families for extended periods of time, there would hardly be any fruit and vegetable industry in Ontario, says owner Bert Andrews. Andrews' 15 Mexican workers create jobs for over 100 other seasonal workers at the farm, many of those jobs are for students, which in turn helps the stu- dents pay for tuition. About mid-September, the Corn and Sunflower Walk, Straw Jump and Haunted Forest will be up and running. The farm is open daily, including holidays. Photo by Ray Lavender
