By join- ing the Royal Canadian Air Cadets, you are saying YES to fun activities and excit- ing challenges, supervised by trained adult leaders. What do Air Cadets do? • Gliding and Power familiarization flights • Learn all about aviation and aeronau- tics • Team sports and activities • Band and music programs • Effective Speaking and debate skills • Leadership training • Orienteering • First-aid and Survival training • Summer camps • International trips • Flying Scholarship program • Marksmanship training You will participate in these activities during the weekly meetings and on the weekends. You will also support your com- munity by taking part in citizenship events organized by the cadet squadron, such as Remembrance Day Parades, Santa Claus Parade, and Poppy Sales to support the Roy- al Canadian Legion. Many of these activi- ties count towards your community service hours too. It all happens in a fun, friendly, safe environment that will motivate you to give your best. The Air Cadet Program is jointly funded by the Department of National Defence, in partnership with the civilian run Air Cadet League of Canada (ACL). There is a nominal annual fee of $50, payable to the ACL. The civilian sponsor (ACL) requires local com- munity support to meet its obligations that include accommodations, training aids and equipment and program enhancements not otherwise provided. Parents and cadets are encouraged to participate in and contribute to fundraising as required by the Squadron Sponsorship Committee. The skills you develop at Cadets will benefit you with your schoolwork. You'll be more organized, you'll be better able to focus, better manage time and tasks, and you'll learn to work in, and lead, a team. As well as make new friends that go to your school.
