See pg. 8 The drive home from work was a headache for thousands of motor- ists Tuesday afternoon after a trac- tor trailer caught fire at the intersec- tion of Ninth Line and Steeles Ave. at around 4 p.m. The cab of the truck was de- stroyed in the blaze and smoke could be seen for miles around the area, which was snarled with rush- hour traffic. The Halton Hills Fire Depart- ment quickly doused the fire, but Steeles Ave. from Winston Churchill Blvd. to Eighth Line was closed for several hours as the asphalt had melted underneath the vehicle, which sat in the eastbound lane. A large quantity of diesel fuel spilled onto the roadway as well in an area where work crews were paving the westbound lanes of Steeles Ave. at the time of the inci- dent. There were no injuries reported in the fire and Town of Halton Hills officials were on hand to determine the extent of the damage to the roadway. Ninth Line was also closed to through traffic from Steeles Ave. to 5 Sideroad.
