Do you want to help make a difference in the environment? Here's your chance. Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is host- ing a community tree planting in Halton Hills on Saturday, Sept. 26, 9 a.m. to noon. The event will take place at Cedarvale Park in Georgetown, 185 Main St. This event is in partnership with the Town of Halton Hills, Alcoa and TD Friends of the Environment. "This is a great opportunity to bring resi- dents together and get outdoors," said Mike Puddister, Deputy CAO and Director of Wa- tershed Transformation for CVC. "Tree planting events are good for the community and good for nature. It's an op- portunity to get to know your neighbours and give back to the environment. The trees we plant today help improve air, water and soil quality, which is vital for the future." Tree planting experience is not required and training will be provided. Students are encouraged to participate and earn their community volunteer hours. Light refreshments and snacks will be of- fered after the tree planting. Participants should dress for the weather, and wear long pants and boots if possible. Shovels and gloves are provided but extras would be helpful.
