Giles, who captured the Halton girls' title last year as a Grade 9 student, topped the 12-player girls' division, with Rebel team- mate Erin Oughtred placing fourth Tuesday following a 106. Christ the King's Jaguars finished second in the boys' team standings with a score of 248 at Blue Springs, the first of two stops in the HSSAA series, with round two next week at the Hidden Lake course in Burlington. Cor- pus Christi topped the team standings at 239. GDHS finished 11th at 288 and Acton's boys were 17th out of the 21 teams entered. Leading the Jags was Nolan Jarv after shooting an 80 to tie for second with six oth- er golfers, one shot back of winner Marcus Khaw of Corpus Christi. CtK's Thomas Gi- roux placed 10th with an 82 and teammate Andy Morris was 14th after an 86. FOOTBALL: The Halton high school grid- iron season began this past week, with both Georgetown teams coming out on the short end of lopsided scores. The Halton Secondary School Athletic Association has realigned its top two divi- sions for this season in the junior and se- nior age groups, eliminating the two-tiered system and placing all 14 teams in a Tier 1-2 category, split into Richardson and Volpe Divisions. The Georgetown Rebels and Christ the King Jaguars are in the Volpe Division and will square off in the final regular season game on Oct. 29. In their openers, the Rebels lost 37-17 Thursday in Oakville to the St. Thomas Aqui- nas Raiders, while the Jaguars were over- powered on their home turf by Burlington's Corpus Christi Longhorns 35-0. CtK's juniors and seniors play Thursday in Oakville against T.A. Blakelock, while the junior and senior Rebels travel to Burlington to take on Notre Dame on Friday afternoon. Christ the King defensive lineman Alec MacCallum chased down the Corpus Christi quarterback for a sack during the third quarter of their HSSAA Tier 1-2 senior regular season kickoff matchup Friday at Jaguars Field. The visiting Longhorns grabbed an early lead and controlled most of the contest, prevailing 35-0, with one of the lone highlights for CtK being a long interception return by defensive back Adam Smith.
