McPherson replaces K.C. Carruthers, who accepted a position with West Park Healthcare Centre in Toronto earlier in the year. "I am very excited to be joining the George- town Hospital Foundation. It will be a tremen- dous privilege to return to community fundrais- ing and support the vital role of the community hospital. I look forward to acquainting myself with Georgetown Hospital and its supporters, and building on the wonderful successes of the Foundation," said McPherson. McPherson is a senior executive with a record of fundraising success and more than 15 years experience in the charitable giving community at both the local and national level. Most recent- ly, McPherson held the position of Chief Devel- opment Officer and Vice President Fundraising at The Arthritis Society where she oversaw the management of a national program responsible for fundraising in excess of $14 million annually. Prior to The Arthritis Society, McPherson held a variety of progressively senior level posi- tions including Vice President Development at Credit Valley Hospital Foundation where she was part of the campaign team who successfully raised $52 million campaign for a new cancer cen- tre. She has also held management positions with the CNIB, Kids Help Phone and the United Way. "The Georgetown Hospital Foundation was very fortunate in recruiting someone of Ms. McPherson's calibre, experience and commit- ment. This is a very exciting time for the George- town Hospital Foundation and we are confident that Mary will be very successful as we move to the next phase of our evolution as an organiza- tion," said Allan Kogon, chair of the Georgetown Hospital Foundation Board of Directors. 'The competition and interest in this position was substantial. We are delighted that Mary is joining us and welcome her to the Foundation, the Hospital and Halton Healthcare as we begin planning for the next phase of development at Georgetown Hospital," added Cindy McDonell, Chief Operating Officer, Georgetown Hospital.
