There are four Catholic elementary schools in Georgetown: • Holy Cross Catholic Elementary School (499 students) • St. Brigid Catholic Elementary School (808 students) • St. Catherine of Alexandria Cath- olic Elementary School (676 students) • St. Francis of Assisi Catholic El- ementary School (351 students) The review is being done for a number of reasons such as St. Cath- erine is facing significant enrolment pressures, soon to be exacerbated by additional development in south Georgetown. As well, Holy Cross School cannot accommodate any portables (Holy Cross needs to be re- placed but the Ministry of Education has yet to approve funding). A School Boundary Review Advi- sory Committee, comprised of school community/Catholic School Council representatives and Board staff, held its first meeting on Oct. 14. Option 9B was suggested by an Advisory School Boundary Review Committee mem- ber at this inaugural Advisory SBRC. Option 9B will be further reviewed by the Advisory SBRC at their second meeting, held last night (Oct. 28). Option 9B addresses enrolment pressures at St. Catherine of Alexan- dria but may require boundary re- view by 2020. Utilization at Holy Cross reaches a sustainable level. St. Brigid is at full capacity. Compared to Op- tions 9 and 9A, 9B reduces portable needs A community consultation meet- ing will take place at Christ the King Catholic Secondary School on Thurs- day, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. Parents and community members will be presented with information about the school boundary review, and will be able to provide their input. Parents and community members interested in attending the Commu- nity Consultation Meeting are asked to please pre-register at bit.ly/george- town-boundaries or https://survey. hcdsb.org/GeorgetownBoundary- ConsultationRegistration.aspx In addition, parents who are un- able to attend the consultation meet- ing will be provided with the oppor- tunity to submit their feedback and input online through the Board's website, following the Nov. 5 meeting. Board approval of the new bound- aries is expected to happen in Janu- ary. For more information regarding the Georgetown Catholic Elementary School Boundary Review, please visit: www.hcdsb.org. Community consultation meeting on Thursday, Nov. 5 Catholic Board reviewing boundaries of Georgetown schools Catholic students may be shifted around to various schools after a boundary review in Georgetown.
