On Saturday morning October 24th, 2015, after complications related to heart surgery he succumbed, in-spite of valiant efforts by the Trillium Hospital staff to sustain his life. He was born in Christchurch, England and spent his teenage years in Bournemouth where he was active in the Boy Scouts. He joined the Royal Marines in 1942 and served as a Royal Marine Commando until 1946 being stationed in Ceylon, India, Hong Kong and Burma. At the end of WWII his adventures brought him to Canada where me met and married Margaret Palmer (Savage) in 1949. He moved to Georgetown in 1958 and worked for Air Canada (TCA) until he retired. He and his wife were founding members of the Georgetown Alliance Church and he spent many hours ministering to others, especially seniors. Beloved father of Wesley Palmer (Janet Le Lievre) and Lynda (Palmer) Tilley (Steve), and grandpa to Aaron Tilley (Melissa), Amos Tilley, Rebecca Schutt (Jarett), Jeremiah Palmer (Dana), Margaret Bowes and Erica Bowes. Great granddad to Elsie and Aubrie Schutt, Lars Palmer, Elkin Tilley and Kiera Gowen. Dear friend of Betty McHale and her family. Jones Peacefully, but not without giving life everything he could, James L. Jones, formerly of Toronto and Georgetown, passed away at Bayfield Manor Nursing Home in Kemptville, ON on October 20, 2015. Jim was 96 years old. Dear son of the late Myrtle and Warren Jones. Beloved husband, partner, and best friend, of Olive for 74 years. Dear and devoted father of Gary, of Florida, and Denise, of Kemptville. Jim was a WW II flight lieutenant, piloting Lancasters out of Scotland and England. He was a long-time member of A.S.H.R.A.E. and former active member of Brampton Golf Club.
