In 1994, David Ambrose directed Globe's production of Anne of Green Gables for an extended run to sold-out audiences. He has returned after 20 years with Music Director Darryl Burton and Choreographer Cheri Lindsey-Jarvis to direct this year's show. The show will open with a very special guest-- Lucy Maud Montgomery's grand- daughter, Kate Butler MacDonald. Based on the well-known book by L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables captures the adventures of Anne Shirley, a red-head- ed and outspoken orphan who, by mistake, comes to live with Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert on their farm on Prince Edward Is- land. (They Clearly Requested a Boy). Anne quickly charms the entire town with her passion, warm heart and end- less imagination. Her adventures with her schoolmates and how she inevitably wins over a rather reluctant Marilla, create a story that has warmed the hearts of countless fans all over the world. Anne of Green Gables is Canada's longest running musical featuring beautiful ballads like "I Can't Find the Words," endearing love songs like "Wondrin'" and energetic dance numbers. Anne of Green Gables is a musical that will delight the whole family. Anne's story is close to home as Lucy Maud Montgomery lived in Norval for nearly 10 years while her husband was min- ister of the Presbyterian Church. Many of Montgomery's novels and short stories were written in Norval and were undoubtedly in- spired by her local surroundings. Relive this Canadian classic with an eve- ning bursting with memorable music and the enchantment of kindred spirits. Anne of Green Gables is playing on Nov. 20, 22, 27, 28, 29 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 23 and 29 at 2 p.m. Tickets $16-$27. Buy online at www. globeproductions.ca or call the Box Office, 905-877-3700.
