Once again, this year, applications are pour- ing in faster than we can find generous commu- nity members to sponsor them. Looking for a way to give back to your com- munity and to combat the season's growing commercialism? Becoming a Holiday Giving Sponsor is a simple and fabulous way for indi- viduals, family members, community groups, co-workers, and businesses to make a difference and feel the true meaning of community this holiday season. As a Links2Care Holiday Giving Sponsor, you will be provided with a family profile with chil- dren's genders, ages, sizes and clothing needs so that you can have fun shopping for the items on the list. Donations of money, new children's clothing, and gift cards are also very much ap- preciated. To sponsor or for more information, call Cathy or Janet at 519-853-3310. Donations can be dropped off at any Links- 2Care location. If this holiday season will be financially chal- lenging for your family, applications are available at our offices, on our website www.links2care.ca and at various local support agencies. Personal information is kept strictly confidential. Links2Care Holiday Hamper program begins The Fraser Direct Charity Book Sale is back on Saturday, Nov. 28, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. After several years away, Georgetown's Fraser Direct is once again offering brand new hardcover and paperback books at dirt cheap prices. The company op- erated the sale for many years at their 100 Armstrong Ave. location and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the community, but had to discontinue the sale sev- eral years ago because they could not close their operations down for several days to prepare for the sale. The growing company simply had no space to set up. This time, the sale will be held at The Old Armoury, home of Globe Productions, at 1A Park Ave., just inside the Georgetown Fair- grounds gate. "It is an ideal spot," says Lois Fraser, Fra- ser Direct president. "There is lots of parking and we can take several days to prepare and a couple of days to clean up afterwards." There will be thousands of books avail- able. Fraser Direct estimates that they have 43 skids-- more than a truck- load-- for sale. Thousands of books, ranging from children's titles, to history, art, bestsell- ers and expensive coffee table books will be sold. Funds will support various non-profit organizations, in- cluding the Georgetown Chil- dren's Chorus. The choir is raising funds for their July 2017 trip to Belgium and France to honour this country's brave heroes on the 150th anniversary of Canada. Come join in the fun, help the commu- nity and buy Christmas gifts for everyone on your list!
