"Over the next year we will be tasked with making many decisions," said Jane Michael, Chair of the Board of Trustees. "May our dis- cussions be rich, may we always consider what is best for our students and may we be respectful of final decisions." According to the Board's procedural by- laws, elections to the office of Chair of the Board and Vice- Chair of the Board take place at the first meeting in Decem- ber each year. "I look forward to working together with each one of my fellow trustees and our senior staff in a spirit of shared vision to ensure our board continues as a leader in the province," said Arlene Ian- tomasi, Vice-Chair of the board. Mark Rowe is Halton Hills's lone repre- sentative on the board of trustee. NEWS Kelly Amos continues as chair of HDSB No changes in HCDSB board leadership Halton District School Board trustees have retained their chair but replaced the vice- chair. At the board's annual organizational meeting on Dec. 2, the 11 trustees, all female, voted to keep Oakville trustee Kelly Amos as their chair, the head of the board of trustees. She has held the post since 2013. She defeated Burlington trustee Amy Col- lard in a head-to-head vote. Collard, the board's previous vice-chair, then announced her intention to run again as vice-chair of the board. She was opposed by Milton trustee Kim Graves. Graves won the vote and became the vice-chair. Board chair and vice- chair elections are done an- nually and by secret ballot with no vote results made public, just who the win- ner is. The board vice-chair gets $19,309.73 while the chair receives $23,290.73. Jeanne Gray is Halton Hills's lone repre- sentative on the board. KELLY AMOS JANE MICHAEL
