The Duke of Edinburgh program is an inter- national program for youth aged 14-25. "The 676 Lorne Scots are a big supporter of the Duke of Ed program. Army Cadets and the Duke of Ed are a natural fit. We are all very proud of Emma" said Captain Mike Cameron, Com- manding Officer of the 676. In order to qualify for the Silver award, the recipient must participate in volunteer work, physical fitness training, learn a new skill, and complete a multiday adventurous journey. "I find the Army Cadet program very reward- ing and a lot of fun. I have had chances to do things you can't do anywhere else. These activi- ties have helped me complete my silver Duke of Ed," said Pushman. WO Pushman is a grade 11 honour student at Christ the King Secondary School. She has been part of the Army Cadet Program for the past three years and is a member of the 676 Bi- athlon team. Army Cadets is a free program for young people aged 12-18. Army Cadets has been part of Georgetown for the past 99 years and is the oldest and one of the largest youth programs in Canada with a focus on outdoor adventure activities. Based out of the Colonel John Roaf Barber, ED. CD. Armoury in Georgetown, the 676 meets every Wednesday night 6:45-9:15 p.m. September to June.
