Submitted photo Red Door Gallery is thrilled to welcome Jeannette Lorito and her solo exhibition Storybook Houses (Dec. 9 to Jan. 3). Lorito is a local illustrator, painter, pho- tographer and founder of the popular The Raise-an-Artist Project-- an Ontario-based arts education program. Using ink and oil on canvas and photography, Lorito's work evokes the narrative of Storybook Hous- es--the characters, objects and landscapes we discover within. The use of space in the works invites us to imagine the stories told by the house: its walls, doors, windows, its characters, its animals, objects, landscapes, even ghosts! Works are titled after beloved authors as a tribute to those that help shape our imagi- nation. Lorito lives in her own storybook house with octagon win- dows, a tiny tea room and a secret pas- sageway. Her house and some of its characters are featured here. Storybook Houses capti- vates, fascinates, excites and delights so much that you can't wait to turn the page. All proceeds from Storybook Houses will be donated to Go Rocco, an arts-based cancer and fertility fundraiser created by Lorito. Go Rocco raises funds to cover the cost of IVF and Surrogacy, educates and in- forms those diagnosed with cancer about fertility preservation and fights disease- related stigma. Lorito is a keen advocate for those facing fertility-risking cancer treatments and helps promote tthe growing field of Oncofertility. You can read more of her story at www.go- fundme.com/gorocco and www. theraiseanartistproject.com. Join Lorito for cupcakes, cookies and magic at the opening of the show on Satur- day, Dec. 12, 1-4 p.m. Red Door Gallery hosts one-woman show Two new exhibitions are currently on display at the Town of Halton Hills Cultural Centre.
