Made for Seniors COMMUNITY: FIVE DAYS GIVING AT LOCAL SCHOOLS The Student Parlia- ment at Stewarttown Senior Public School consisting of (front left) Jessica Ashley and Zoe Prestwood, along with (top left) Aidan Lofto, Hannah Burt and Sidney Haqq were proud to pass on their col- lection of items to Links2Care commu- nity support program co-ordinator Cathy Gerrow last Friday. Photo by Eamonn Maher The smallest elementary school in the Hal- ton public board has come through in a big way for the Georgetown Bread Basket the past four years. With only 136 students from junior kin- dergarten to Grade 5, Joseph Gibbons Pub- lic School collected close to 700 non-per- ishable items for its annual 5 Days of Giving Food Drive, surpassing its goal of 600 and last year's total of about 500. The students and staff at Stewarttown Se- nior Public School held their first-ever Five Days of Giving collection for the com- munity support organization, Links2Care, and made a sizeable donation last week. On each day of the week, students were asked to bring in items such as non- perishable food, toys, toiletries, winter clothing and school supplies for dona- tion to those less fortunate and they filled two large hampers that were picked up by Links2Care. The school's Student Parliament consist- ing of Grade 8 students borrowed the idea from Georgetown's Joseph Gibbons Public School and plan to do it again next year. Stewarttown School launched its first Five Days of Giving Georgetown Bread Basket director of schools Martha Clipperton dropped by Joseph Gibbons Public School on Monday afternoon to collect various items that were donated through the school's Spirit Club by its members (pictured from left): Megan Weatherall, Alana Daciw, Mackenzie Hayward, Avery Grigor, Caleb Challenger.
