On scene crews checked the building using the multi-gas detector and found zero readings. It was deter- mined that the smell was from gar- bage cans. ****** On Dec. 10, HHFD responded to a report of a vehicle fire on Trafalgar Rd., south of 10 Sideroad. On scene, the vehicle could be identified as a large cube truck that was fully engulfed in smoke. Small flames were periodically visible underneath the cab of the ve- hicle. There was a significant amount of oil leaking from the vehicle onto the ground below and the heat from the exhaust was causing it to ignite periodi- cally. Fire crews turned off the vehicle's engine and the smoke dissipated im- mediately. The oil continued to leak but there was no more flame. Public Works was contacted to attend the scene with sand and prevent further spread of oil into the nearby ditch. Halton Regional Police remained on scene for traffic control. ****** On Dec. 9, firefighters responded to a burn complaint on Sixth Line, south of 15 Sideroad. A large fire was found to be burning. Staff extinguished the fire and explained the requirement of a burn permit to conduct any burning.
