This group of enthusiastic supporters trekked for eight days at high altitude, foregoing running water, electricity and cell service to raise funds for local women's shelters and long-term solutions to end family violence. Flowers (amy@amyflowers.ca) and Johnson, (jilljohnson@royallepage.ca) raised an impres- sive $10,489 which was donated to Halton Wom- en's Place. In total, $500,000 was raised by all the challenge participants in support of women's shelters across Canada. Flowers and Johnson appreciate the generosity of their donors in helping make it easier for women and children in Halton to walk safely away from vio- lence and regain hope for a future without abuse. The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation is Can- ada's largest public foundation dedicated exclu- sively to supporting women's shelters and ending violence against women and children. Through agent commission donations and the fundrais- ing activities of the Royal LePage network, over $20 million has been raised to help provide a safe haven and new beginnings to more than 30,000 women and children each year.
