11| The IFP -H alton H ills | T hursday,January 18,2018 theifp.ca The Georgetown Bread Basket has recently an- nounced it will be moving to a brand new location to better serve the George- town community. The new facility, located on Moun- tainview Road North near Armstrong Avenue, is ex- pected to open in the spring of 2018. The food bank is cur- rently located at 55 Sinclair Ave. near Guelph Street. Since first opening its doors in 1996, the food bank has seen an increase in the number of Georgetown residents who rely on the Georgetown Bread Basket to nourish themselves and their families. In recent years, the food bank has rapidly outgrown its cur- rent location and requires a larger facility to store food and serve local resi- dents. "We are excited to be moving into a larger facil- ity that will allow us to bet- ter meet community de- mand," said Lori Brading, chair of the Georgetown Bread Basket. On Feb. 24, 2018, the Georgetown Bread Basket will be hosting the second annual Coldest Night of the Year, a fundraiser to raise money for the food bank. Proceeds of the 2018 fund- raiser - dubbed "New Year, New Location" - will go di- rectly toward retrofitting, moving and furnishing costs associated with the relocation.
