During the regular meeting on Jan. 15, council approved a recommenda- tion to bring electronic agenda management and web streaming implemen- tation into council cham- bers, creating paperless agendas and minutes. Two parts of the recom- mendation, the electronic meeting management and web streaming, and the closed captioning services, will be implemented this year by Markham-based company eSCRIBE Soft- ware Ltd., and will be pur- chased in the amount of just over $64,000. The other part, video capture and encoding ser- vices, will be supplied by MacLean Media Systems of Burlington, and will be purchased for over $94,000. Council members will also receive mobile tablets to read agendas, and will have the ability to mark them up as they would a piece of paper. The project will allow residents who are unable to attend a meeting to watch on the town's web- site. As a result, the town ex- pects more community in- volvement. According to a report from the town, the project is "an integral part of mov- ing toward a more efficient, sustainable, and accessible approach in providing council and committee in- formation."
