Images she submitted to the Independent Free Press seem to indicate that the bird is a snowy owl, likely a female because of its "salt-and-pepper" look, com- pared to the more pale appear- ance of the males. Snowy owls are known to mi- grate south to this area from the Arctic during the winter months and unfortunately are not aware of hazards such as vehicles, hy- dro poles and windows, which they're unaccustomed to encoun- tering.
