DJ Nascimento/Photo Bantam B Twisters go undefeated at Guelph Winter Classic The Georgetown Impact under-17 boys are tied for top spot out of 35 teams in the Volleyball Ontario Chal- lenge Cup rankings, even in points with the York Region Storm RipTide club heading into a tournament in U-17 Premier tournament this weekend at Brock Universi- ty in St. Catharines. The Impact captured the Provincial Cup tourney in Stratford in November and didn't lose a set along the way, defeating the Lon- don Volleyball Club in the championship match. The local side also earned silver medals at the U17 Challenge Cup in Guelph last month and bronze in a 40-team field at the CAN-AM Rochester tourney, in which George- town's under-17s received an on-the-spot invitation to play in the U.S. Nationals in Arizona in July, but had to pass on the opportunity. Contributed by U-17 Impact Eric Montag earned a bronze medal and Camila Ruszkiewicz received an invitation to the national championships for the lo- cally-based Kick Nation club at the 2018 Taekwondo Provincial Games at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre earlier this month. Montag, 14, placed third in high performance spar- ring in the junior 68-kilo- gram division. The 13-year-old, Rusz- kiewicz, finished fourth in high performance poom- sae in the individual fe- male cadet class, qualify- ing her for the Canadian Taekwondo Champion- ships in Ottawa taking place Feb. 15-18. Another Kick Nation member, 14-year-old Luis Positano, competed in high performance sparring in the junior 55-kg division and fought well in his two bouts.
