Halton Police report that shortly before 4:45 p.m. a taxi driver picked up a man in the area of Arm- strong Avenue. Along the way the driver became in- volved in a verbal argu- ment with the man regard- ing the cost of the trip. The man believed that the driv- er was going slowly in or- der to raise the cost of the fare, while the driver at- tempted to explain that the price increases per kilome- ter, not by the time driving. The cabbie stopped on Guelph Street at Mill Street and demanded that the man exit the cab. At this time, the man who was seated in the passenger side of the taxi, struck the driver on the right side of his forehead with a closed fist. The accused exited the cab and later attended the taxi company to pay his fare. The driver suffered mi- nor injuries. Tuesday night, George Hooker, 52, was arrested without incident and charged with one count of assault. He was released on a promise to appear and an undertaking. Carnwath (retired) The courts along with every social worker we have ever dealt with agree it is detrimental for children to be exposed to one parents criticism of the other parent. In a custody/access case the courts are determining what is in the best interests of the children. In circumstances where one parent insists on exposing the children to their anger towards the other parent courts will often order that parents not involve the children. If the order doesn't stop the behavior then that parent is in contempt of the court and the court can limit access to be supervised or in extreme cases eliminated.
