Georgetown earned its 10th straight Ontario Fed- eration of School Athletic Associations' overall team title by a fairly com- fortable margin, out- pointing runner-up Wa- terloo Collegiate 1,348 to 769. Highlights included a gold-medal performance by the senior boys' 200-m freestyle relay team con- sisting of Thomas Scho- field, Luke Mannell, Haydn Bennett and Justin Hume - along with a silver relay medal and a few in- dividual bronze medals. GDHS also took top spot in the junior girls' team category. As well, Olivia Crowe of George- town's Christ the King Jaguars placed third in the senior girls' 200-m freestyle final. ALPINE SKIING: Georgetown's Cassidy Brooks recorded the fas- test run of the day to earn the gold medal by a wide margin at last week's OF- SAA Championships at Blue Mountain Resorts. Brooks's first run clocked in at a sizzling 47.55 seconds and she would go on to win the event by 1.39 seconds over the silver medalist. She also placed just .54 sec- onds off the podium in the giant slalom, settling for fourth place. GDHS's Austin Dale- man also took part in the para skiing competition last week at Blue Moun- tain. Georgetown captures 10th consecutive OFSAA overall swim title Swimmers from Georgetown District High School marked a decade of dominance by winning its 10th OFSAA overall team championship in a row this week in Windsor. Right, Olivia won a bronze medal at the championships. Georgetown District High School Kevin Wong photo Not nearly as easy as it appears, the Georgetown Raiders are on to the next round of Ontario Junior Hockey League playoffs after dis- patching the St. Michael's Buzzers 6-3 Tuesday evening to complete the sweep of the best-of-7 matchup. Georgetown skated to the South/West Conference quarterfi- nal victory in hardly a cakewalk, as the result of all four games was in doubt until the late stages. Game four was tied at two after two periods and 3-3 with less than six minutes left in regulation be- fore Andrew Court potted the win- ner, which was followed by a pair of short-handed empty-netters by Jake Payette and Austin Cho at venerable St. Michaels' College Arena. The lone Georgetown resident of the team, rookie Jaden Condot- ta, scored his first goal as a Raider to give the visitors an early 2-0 ad- vantage. Derek McVey and Jordan Crocker also tallied, with Troy Timpano making 30 stops for the W. Although it hasn't been official- ly determined, it's a safe bet that the second-seeded Raiders will take on the conference's third-place club, the North York Rangers, in round two of the post-season. In order for that to change, eighth-place Orangeville would have to come back from a 3-0 series deficit against the regular-season- champion Toronto Patriots, who outscored the Flyers 21-1 in the first three games. Georgetown took the season se- ries with North York 3-1, although the Rangers blanked the host Raid- ers 3-0 in their most recent meeting Jan. 20. The No. 5 Toronto Jr. Cana- diens lead the No. 4 Oakville Blades 2-1 in their conference quarterfinal series. Raiders' head coach and GM Greg Walters is hoping to get veter- an centre Bailey Molella back for the next series after suffering an upper-body injury late in the sea- son. Twenty-year-old defender Zack Dybowski missed half the season due to injury but is getting back to form, picking up a pair of assists Tuesday. HOCKEY Buzzers brushed away by Raiders
