Ruszkiewicz, 13, finished third in the Cadet Individual Poomsae division and combined with Christine Cho and Sabrina So from the Markham Taekwondo Academy to place first in the Cadet Team Poomsae category. The triumph qualified the trio to represent Canada at the Taipei 2018 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in November. Kick Nation program director Kim Ho said that to the best of his knowledge, Ruszkiewicz is the first competitor from Georgetown to reach that stage of competition.
