Jailbirds at the George- town Market Place Shop- ping Centre included prominent Halton Region officials, business people and community members who were given a dollar figure to raise by "Crown attorney" Cal Millar, chair of Crime Stoppers of Hal- ton, and weren't freed un- til that figure was reached. Cal Millar received the most donations on the day with $1,252, while young- ster Caleigh Wood of Oak- ville collected $1,035 to se- cure her release. The largest single do- nation was $500 from the Fleet Safety Council of To- ronto for Jailbird Mike Frolick of Transpro Freight Systems Milton. Crime Stoppers is con- sidered a volunteer-run, non-profit charitable or- ganization. POLICE AND FIRE Jailbirds sing for Halton's Crime Stoppers to escape slammer Kelly Montague, vice president and publisher of Metroland West, spent some time behind bars waiting for family and friends to come through with donations to free her from the jail cell guarded by Halton Regional Police community mobilization officer Const. Dennis Dimitroff during the Crime Stoppers of Halton Jail-A-Thon on Friday at the Georgetown Market Place Shopping Centre. Montague, known as Inmate 711, was bailed out by Judge Bryan Lewis after raising $610 for Crime Stoppers of Halton.
