The Brownies and their dads were provided instruc- tion on tool use and bird house construction, as well as safety rules for using woodworking tools and pro- tective equipment. All had a great time build- ing, painting and decorating their individual bird houses that were donated by the Georgetown United Home Hardware Building Centre. The Brownies earned their Wood Works badge for their work that evening. Many thanks to George- town United Home Hard- ware Building Centre for hosting such a wonderful event. Last month workers at the Georgetown Hospital rallied outside the building with signs, trying to raise awareness about the fact that they'd been working without a contract since September. CUPE and the Ontario Council of Hospi- tal Unions (OCHU) announced that they came to an agreement with the Ontario Hospital Association, after coming back to the negotiating table this year. The hospital association was asking for concessions regarding a reduction in sick pay, changes to seniority ranking and in- crease the employee share of benefits. OCHU and CUPE say these concessions were not made, and that wage increases for workers will be retroactive, to the end of September when their previous contract expired.
