Five more homes in the Rem- ington Homes subdivision devel- opment were damaged, as winds topping 150 kilometres an hour ripped through Georgetown. "They were all braced, built properly," said site supervisor Da- vid Fortier, explaining that "at this stage in construction, they're vul- nerable." The houses were framed with windows installed before the storm came. Currently, the houses are roped off and the company is awaiting a response from their insurer. "This was pretty severe," said Fortier, explaining that he has seen damage from wind on sites before, but with the build backing onto an open field, the wind had the opportunity to pick up very heavily before hitting the houses. Fortier estimates the homes were about three months away from completion. Five framed houses in Georgetown South were damaged beyond repair in a wind storm last Friday.
