Organized by the Kins- men Club of Georgetown, the event had been a fund- raising dinner for several years until the golf tourna- ment was added for 2018. Among the guest golfers were former NHLers Ric Nattress and Gilbert Dionne. Patricia McLaughlin, regional executive director for central and southwest- ern Ontario for CF Canada, said that fundraisers such as the one in Georgetown have helped boost the life expectancy of CF victims from 37 just a few years ago to 53 today. A food truck located at 375 Guelph St. between the Esso gas station and Shoe- less Joe's restaurant, Man- gia Bene will mark its fifth anniversary in George- town in September and its owner, Russell Priola, said the key to building a loyal clientele starts with top- quality ingredients and fresh-made fare. "I would say 95 per cent of our business is return- ing customers," said Prio- la, a master chef trained in Europe who has worked as a chef at luxury hotels in the U.S. and for the Monte Carlo Inn chain in Canada. "People know what they're getting at reason- able prices. It's nothing ex- travagant, but it's high quality and people must be happy with it because they keep coming back." There are several fresh- ly prepared menu options including baked specialties such as lasagna, sandwich- es, burgers, salads, pasta dishes and traditional en- trees like veal scalloppini and pollo marsala, along with their specialty sand- wich, an Italian/Cuban creation called the porcu- bonetta. Sous-chef Lisa Lafon- taine has a garden on-site for spices and herbs and while they shop locally for most items on the menu, the San Marzano tomatoes are imported from Venice. Popular with tradespeo- ple in the area looking for a hearty and quick meal, Priola said the catering side of Mangia Bene is also doing well, with several lo- cal businesses, especially auto dealerships, ordering in for large group meals. Mangia Bene is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Monday to Saturday and from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday. For more info, visit the website www.mangiabene- cateringco.com or call 416- 908-2891.
