Save more on Canada Day with Save.ca Summer 20 18 In order to get more operating space and storage, the Georgetown Bread Bas- ket recently moved its home base to Unit 49B Mountainview Road North from its previous Armstrong Avenue location. An open house will be held in Septem- ber to show the public what the new head- quarters look like, said Lori Brading, the food bank's chair of the board of direc- tors. The onset of summer traditionally means that donations to the food bank fall off somewhat, but the demand for the facility's services remains high. The Bread Basket does not receive government funding and relies on com- munity donations to stock its shelves and fill the refrigerators and freezers. Brading would like to put out a re- minder for those who are donating items from home to check best-before dates pri- or to dropping them off at the Bread Bas- ket as approximately 5,000 pounds of food had to be thrown out last year. To volunteer, register to get help, or donate, visit the website http://george- townbreadbasket.ca/ or call 905-873- 3368. Its hours of operation are Tuesday 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday 8:30 a.m. to noon and Saturday 8:30 a.m. to noon. COMMUNITY Lori Brading, chair of the board of directors for the Georgetown Bread Basket, recently gave a tour of the local food bank's new home on Mountainview Road North across the street from the Real Canadian Superstore. The Bread Basket had been located on Armstrong Avenue in Georgetown.
