Legendary thorough- bred horse-racing jockey Sandy Hawley was the key- note speaker for the eve- ning. The Sports Museum and Resource Centre, lo- cated in the Gordon Alcott Heritage Hall at the Mold- Masters SportsPlex, wel- comed in former Major League Baseball and Team Canada pitcher Shawn Hill; longtime minor pro hockey player and current head coach of the Ameri- can Hockey League's Utica Comets, Trent Cull; the late Harry Lawson, another baseball star and builder of the sport in Acton; sports journalist Denis Gibbons, a longtime authority on in- ternational hockey; and the remarkable 1987-88 Georgetown Junior Gemi- ni juvenile hockey squad, which won both the Onta- rio Minor Hockey Associa- tion and International Sil- ver Stick championships in the same season. Hill was unable to at- tend the event, due to a family commitment in Florida, and was re- presented by his father, Richard. Lawson's three surviving siblings accept- ed the award on his behalf.
