"We have been getting a number of reports of theft from vehicles and theft of vehicles," said Halton Re- gional Police Service (HRPS) Det. Paul Harrow- er. Harrower says that since July 11, there have been 10 stolen vehicle re- ports received, indicating that cars have been taken from driveways during the overnight hours through- out Halton Hills. He adds that investiga- tors have determined that no make or model is specif- ically being targeted. How- ever, in 90 per cent of the cases, the owner of the ve- hicle had left their vehicles unlocked with the ignition keys inside. One of the latest inci- dents involved the theft of a pickup truck from a driveway on Raylawn Crescent in Georgetown. The theft took place overnight between Aug. 7 and Aug. 8, and was report- ed to police the morning of Aug. 8, Harrower said. The vehicle is described as a dark blue Ram 1500 with Alberta plates. Harrower says the in- vestigation is still under- way and police are seeking potential suspects. The remaining inci- dents occurred on Prince Charles Drive, Maple Ave- nue, Faludon Drive, Joyce- lyn Crescent, Southwinds Drive, McCullough Cres- cent, River Drive and Ed- win Lane. Police are asking resi- dents to be cognizant of these occurrences and for anyone with security cam- eras nearby to be vigilant in checking for suspicious activity. They are also re- minding residents to never leave keys inside a parked vehicle. Anyone with informa- tion is asked to contact Det. Const.
