Former owners of the non-profit café sold cook- books outlining classic recipes they served up over the years and donated the proceeds of the cook books to Acton Foodshare. The three ladies got to- gether to present a cheque for $3,078 to the food bank. "We're very grateful," said Arlene Humphreys, of the Acton-based food bank. "Other than the grant from the region, we rely on community dona- tions." The donation buys the weekly program about 1,000 pounds of food, which would last them only one day on their weekly rota- tion, serving about 35 or 40 families.
