All About PETS ADOPTABLEPETSOFTHEWEEK... Peeks and Lightning - A Perfect Pair Peeks and Lightning are a bonded brother and sister cat duo, rescued as kittens nine years ago. This beautiful domestic longhair/mix pair now await their forever home. It is sometimes a bit more difficult for older cats to get placed, but they haven't given up hope that their perfect family is just around the corner! These siblings have stunning grey and white colouring, and though they look similar, they definitely have their own little personalities. Lightning is a cuddly girl, who loves to lounge in sunny spots or snuggle up with you and just relax after a long day. Though she will love her lap time with you, she is an independent girl when it comes to other cats; she is fine with other felines as long as they don't crowd her personal space. Peeks is a sweet and social boy who loves attention, and doesn't hesitate to approach you to receive it! Be sure to prepare yourself for lots of cuddles and play with this handsome cat. Come meet this perfect pair at the Upper Credit Humane Society! Members of the community interested in visiting UCHS are invited to stop by from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily, including weekends. During these hours, visitors to the shelter can meet animals available for adoption, drop off donations, fill out adoption applications, speak with staff, etc. Since the beginning of the year, UCHS has found homes for 265 cats, 60 dogs and 45 small animals for a total of 370. We could not do it with the help of volunteers, donations and the kind hearts of those who come to adopt. Thank you all. Peeks Lightning Fortunately for Sierra, caring people noticed her, provided her with food and shelter then searched for her owners. They looked for days and found no one to claim her, then NHKR was contacted. So began the first twelve hours of Sierra's life in foster care. She was picked up in the evening, made comfortable at a foster home and early the following morning she delivered six babies. Throughout her ordeal, Sierra remained calm and agreeable even though everyone was a stranger and she had newborns. She was a wonderful nurturing mom - accepting a four day old orphan into her brood and later a bottle fed kitten as well. Mommyhood is past and now it is time for Sierra to have a home. She has given generously while in NHKR care and now it is time for a family to give back to her. She will gladly accept all the love and attention offered. Sierra is a remarkable cat, she appreciates everything, accepts change easily and strangers are just new friends. She would fit into almost any home! She is comfortable with other cats and while homeless she tried to enter a house with barking dogs. Sierra is a house cat - clean with her food and litter box areas and delighted to be indoors. All she needs now is a special family to take her home. To see her 8 babies visit NHKR Fb and look for the "mountain kittens" Sierra and Shaq will be available for adoption this Sat. at Pet Valu 375 Mountainview Rd South from 2:00-4:00.
