Armed officers from Peel regional police's tacti- cal rescue unit, along with first responders, were spot- ted stationed outside the Georgetown home this af- ternoon. Around 2:30 p.m. the tac- tical unit left the residence. Plainclothes officers re- mained on-site. An officer conducting the investigation told the Independent that every- thing was under control and that no further infor- mation could be revealed at that time. Peel police media officer Const. Akhil Mooken later confirmed that the investi- gation is related to the two homicides that took place on Sunday. In the early morning hours of Sept. 2, two men were gunned down in Brampton, approximately six hours apart. The first incident oc- curred at 12:43 a.m., in the area of Vodden Street East, west of Kennedy Road. A man and woman were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The man, identified as Clifford Correia, 27, from Bramp- ton, died in hospital. Police responded to the second occurrence on Townley Crescent, shortly after 6:34 a.m. and found the victim with obvious signs of trauma. Georgetown resi- dent Derrick McKeown, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene. On Sept. 3, Brampton resident Patrick Doyle, 27, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-de- gree murder and one count of attempted murder. The investigation is on- going.
