Join a Committee 2019-2022 Citizen Applications to Serve on Town of Halton Hills Boards and Committees Boards and committees play an important role in the democratic process. Members of the public appointed to serve on a Town Board or Committee provide Council with a variety of diverse perspectives, specialized skills and expertise specific to the mandate of the public body they serve. As a member you represent council and the community, and as well understand and are committed to the Corporation of the Town of Halton Hills' Core Values. The Council for the Corporation of the Town of Halton Hills invites applications from members of the public who are interested in serving on the following committees. THE COMMITTEES: Committee of Adjustment • Consists of five (5) citizen members • Regular monthly meetings • Remuneration of $100.24 for member per meeting (2018 Rate) • To act as a decision-making body which considers applications for minor variances to the Town's Zoning By-laws and applications to sever parcels of land Heritage Halton Hills • Consists of eleven (11) members • Regular monthly meetings • To act as an advisory body respecting the designation of buildings of historical and architectural interest under the Ontario Heritage Act Halton Hills Public Library Board • Consists of nine (9) citizen members, plus two Council representatives • Must be able to attend monthly meetings, and dedicate time to Library Board activitie • Sets policy for the governance of the Library in accordance with the Public Libraries Act. • For additional information regarding the library board please refer to http://www.hhpl.on.ca/ Property Standards Committee/Town of Halton Hills Fence Viewers • This joint position consists of three (3) citizen members • Meets on an as needed basis to attend fence viewings or to hear appeals by property owners • To act as a decision-making body to hear appeals by property owners regarding Orders to Comply issued under the Town's Property Standards By-law • To act as fence viewers responsible for arbitrating a dispute between neighbouring landowners where one owner wants to construct, repair or maintain a fence on the common boundary, but is unable to reach an agreement with other owner(s) • Remuneration is $50 per attendance/meeting Site Alteration Committee • Consists of four (4) citizen members with farming expertise and/or community related experience • Meets on an as needed basis • To act as a decision-making body to hear concerns from Halton Hills residents regarding issues under the Town's Site Alteration By-law Active Transportation Committee • Consists of (8) citizen members from the business, industry, education, and recreation sector • Quarterly meetings • Act as an advisory committee to provide advice and input to the Town of Halton Hills on matters relating to the design, construction and funding of multi-use and inter-connecting trail system, and cycling systems in the Town of Halton Hills • Implement active transportation policies, programs and facilities • Identify issues that impact trail and cycling development in Halton Hills • Strive for streets and trails that provide for safe, convenient efficient and accessible use by all users - pedestrians of all ages and abilities, people with disabilities, cyclists • Educate and promote the environmental, social, economic and health benefits of active transportation Halton Hills Accessibility Advisory Committee • Consists of nine (9) citizen members • Bi-monthly meetings • Acts as an advisory committee to provide advice and input to the Town of Halton Hills to fulfill obligations under the Accessibilities for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
